Oral Health Literacy & Education

In partnership with the Maryland Office of Oral Health, MDAC created the nationally recognized, award-winning Healthy Teeth, Health Kids campaign, a bilingual oral health literacy campaign focused on the importance of good oral health for children and pregnant women.  Healthy Smiles, an oral health curriculum developed for use by Head Start, was distributed to all 186 public libraries in Maryland, as well as 7 libraries in the University System of Maryland.  This year, MDAC is working with the Maryland Office of Oral Health to conduct a statewide dental sealant needs assessment and implement a campaign to educate Latino and immigrant communities on the oral health benefits of drinking fluoridated tap water.
