John Welby

For more than 30 years John has worked in health care and public health creating compelling, results driven and award winning communications. He is skilled in idea development, message design, social marketing, advertising, media relations and health literacy. He obtained his M.S. in Communication from Clarion University and has developed and produced social and behavior change campaigns for some of the nation’s most respected health care organizations, including the National Institutes of Health, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and The Johns Hopkins Medical Institutions.  

John currently works as the Director of Health Literacy and Social Marketing for the Maryland Office of Oral Health at the Maryland Department of Health. He leads social marketing efforts for the office and is responsible for developing and producing MDAC’s nationally recognized Healthy Teeth, Healthy Kids campaign. Throughout his career, John has been recognized as an expert communicator winning more than 50 national awards for his work. He considers communicating about health a privilege and believes that social and behavior change communication is best achieved when truth is spontaneously revealed and effortlessly recognized.
